VK Singh suggests local aesthetics in new terminal

Minister of state for civil aviation General (retd) Vijay Kumar Singh has suggested that focus should be given more on the local flavour in the design of the new terminal building of Imphal Airport.
the minister emphasised that one should feel that he/she has landed in Manipur when he/she steps into the terminal building.
In a release, Imphal International Airport, Airports Authority of India (AAI) director P Lokanadh stated that MoS VK Singh arrived at Imphal International Airport on Friday and chaired a meeting at the Airport which was attended by AAI officials and a delegation of the state Road Transport Department headed by additional chief secretary (Transport) P Vaiphei, additional secretary (Transport) N Bandana and transport director Nevedita Lairenlakpam.
At the meeting, NER regional executive director Ravi Kant presented a slide show on the progress of the various projects undertaken by AAI in the North Eastern region.
He also pointed out that projects are running behind schedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The minister advised to speed up the pace of all the projects as the situation is improving, it added.
The AAI release mentioned that VK Singh discussed in length about the upcoming new terminal building at Imphal Airport.
A virtual 3D animated walkthrough video of the proposed terminal building and its surroundings was presented during the meeting.
He also discussed in length about the development of the heliports and increasing air connectivity in the region.
The MoS for civil aviation's two-day visit to the state concluded on Saturday.
The release also informed that earlier on his arrival at Imphal International Airport, the MoS was accorded a warm welcome by works minister Th Biswajit Singh, additional chief secretary (Transport) P Vaiphei and a delegation of AAI led by NER regional executive director Ravi Kant and airport director of Imphal International Airport P Lokanadh.
