In connection with the RIMS authority's reported plan to hand over certain section of RIMS campus to some individuals to dig a pond for fish farming, the Popular Pisciculture Association, Manipur (PPAM) has clarified that the fish farm has been there even before the establishment of RIMS.

Acting on the petitions, the High Court passed an order directing all concerned to maintain status quo of the particular 32.74 acres.
However, some individuals fraudulently added the particular area to the RIMS campus in 2007.On learning about the fraudulent enlistment of the particular area in the name of RIMS, another writ petition was filed at the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench in 2012 and the Court passed a similar order to maintain status quo of the fish farm.
The PPAM also filed a case at the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the tribunal passed on order on April 8, 2016 whereby the Government was directed not to infringe into the particular area, it said.
It added that it would be sub-judice to publish any report pertaining to the particular area in view of the prohibitions imposed by the High Court and the NGT.
