Imphal, April 28 2015 : A young housewife was allegedly raped by a neighbour inside the complex of Popular English School at Lamdeng Makha Leikai under Lamshang Police Station, Imphal West.

The rape accused is identified as Leiphrakpam Sananingthem (40), son of L Inaobi of Lamdeng Makha Leikai.

The reported rape incident took place on April 26 around 9:30 pm, according to a police report.

The accused surrendered to Lamshang Police Station a day after the incident.

The victim's husband is said to be a chowkidar of the Popular English School.

Shortly before the incident, the husband went out to drop one of his friends who visited his home that night.

In a while, the husband opened the main gate of the school and went out along with his friend, Sananingthem entered the campus and raped the woman there.

A case has been registered with the Lamshang Police Station over the incident.

Meanwhile, reports said rape accused Sananingthem was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on Tuesday, which remanded him to police custody for five days.
