452 new cases detected, TPR highest in eight months

Imphal, January 28 2022: The state on Friday recorded highest daily test positivity rate in the last eight months since May 25 last year as government bulletins reported 452 fresh cases out of 2172 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 20.81 per cent against 19.06 per cent on Thursday.May 25 last year recorded 21.75 per cent positivity rate while the next day reported 20.79 per cent marking gradual decline in the daily positivity rate during the long run of the second wave of Covid-19 which began from April first week.

Friday also reported one death case which took the toll from the pandemic to 2037 in the state.

The victim was a resident of Imphal West district, who had received second dose of Covid vaccine.

So far, the virus has claimed lives of 156 vaccinated people including 36 who had received second doses.In all, 407 patients were discharged from home isolation (181), RIMS (9), JNIMS (6) and CCCs (211) in the last 24 hours while number of active cases rose to 3804 out of which 1284 (33.75 per cent) are in home isolation.

There are 235 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 160 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.

Out of the 16 districts, only one did not report any fresh Covid cases on Friday.

So far, the state has recorded 1,02,756 positive cases and 1663 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave.

The current month has reported 6368 new positive cases and 35 fatalities.

The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 2899 and 18 respectively.According to official reports, the 452 fresh cases included 418 civilians (210 male & 208 female) and 34 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (39), JNIMS (38) and other testing cen-tres (375).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (135), Imphal West (172), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (22), Kakching (11), Kamjong (2), Kangpokpi (6), Ukhrul (6), Tamen-glong (5), Tengnoupal (3), Noney (3), Senapati (7), Chandel (9) and Chura-chandpur (16).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,32,156 (general popula-tion - 1,27,217 and CAPF personnel - 4,939) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,26,315 (general population - 1,21,625 and CAPF personnel - 4,690) and number of active cases is 3804 (general population - 3562 and CAPF personnel - 242) .

The recovery rate is 95.58 per cent.A total of 412 D-type and 91 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 8691 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated peo-ple to 14,05,834 out of which 10,39,615 had taken second doses and 22,078 had taken precautionary doses.As per data maintained by The People's Chroni-cle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (46,866), Imphal East (29,314), Thou-bal (9788), Churachandpur (10,778), Kangpokpi (3013), Tamenglong (3333), Bishnu-pur (9487), Senapati (2370), Ukhrul (3117), Kakching (6657), Chandel (2588), Noney (1118), Tengnoupal (1152), Ji-ribam (1103), Kamjong (1007) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in differ-ent districts are Imphal West (683), Imphal East (488), Thoubal (179), Churachan-dpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (196), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (48), Kakching (117), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 42,590 confirmed cases per million population (based on project-ed population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 28,989 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,90,204 tests per million population against the na-tional average of 5,16,480 TPM.

Case fatality rate came down to 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2172 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 20.81 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.69 per cent.
