STC decries 'brutal act' of ZDV cadres

Lamka, November 27 2013: The Simte Tribe Council (STC) Gen HQs today strongly condemned the 'heinous and barbaric act' committed on Th.Dongzalian, President of Zenhang Lamka Area, STC (Unit) by cadres of the proscribed Zou Defence Volunteer (ZDV) at Zoumunnuam, Churachandpur at around 10 pm on November 25 .

According to a statement issued by the information and publicity of STC Gen headquarters, the brutal act has caused severe injuries and the fate of the victim who is currently undergoing treatment at the ICU of Shija Hospital is still uncertain.

While STC (Gen HQ) vehemently deplored the perpetrators, it is equally of grave concern as to how such UG Cadres are allowed to walk freely with arms and take the law into their own hands.

The Simte community has been continuously victimised, intimidated and is at the receiving end from different quarters including non-state actors.

To this end, the STC(Gen HQs) urged the concerned organisation to prove their innocence and amicably follow the path of negotiation as per the customary law & Practices, the statement said.

Further, STC (Gen HQs) called upon the concerned authority and stakeholders to book the culprits so that befitting punishment is awarded in accordance to the law of the land.
