Imphal, August 27 2018:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has geared up to organise a State level seminar on the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs' 213th report on the Framework Agreement.
Speaking to media persons at their Lamphelpat office this evening, UCM president Sunil Karam pointed out that the particular report talks about extension of Article 371A of the Indian Constitution to Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The report will be deliberated at a State level seminar which will be held in mid-September and the recommendations adopted at the seminar will be sent to both the Central Government and the State Government, Sunil said.
He said that the exact date and venue of holding the seminar will be informed to public later.
In addition to the ongoing civil movements like protest demonstrations and public discussion sessions, route wise human chain formation and shouting slogans will be launched from the first week of September, Sunil said.
The UCM has also decided to launch a post campaign next month against the Government of India's sectarian and communal policies.
The UCM president then appealed to all the people of the State to support and join the line of action they have charted out, and share collective responsibility in safeguarding the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary.
On the other hand, mass protest demonstrations were staged today at Sagolband Thangjam Leirak and Sagolband Pukhrambam Leirak under the aegis of UCM against extension of Article 371A or any such arrangement which can pave way for disintegration of Manipur.
