Imphal, August 27 2013:
Parents of Nekhohat Kilong who was suspected to have been murdered by her own husband Bijoy has decried police failure to nab the murder accused till date even though the murder took place more than three months back.
Nekhohat Kilong (25) who was a mother of two children of Moreh Ward No 9 was found murdered by the side of highway just half Kilometre away from Moreh police station on May 7 this year.
Nekhohat's father Seikhojal and Hoinu strongly suspect that their daughter was killed by BRTF worker Bijoy and they have already filed a complaint with Moreh Police to book Bijoy.
Acting on the complaint, Moreh Police registered FIR 24 (5) 2013 and took up a case under Section 302 of IPC.
Talking with The Sangai Express, one officer of Moreh Police conceded that they are unable to pull any suspect including Bijoy in connection with the murder Nekhohat Kilong.
Post mortem report has not been received till date and when police enquired about Bijoy with BRTF Mortuk where he used to work, it was said that Bijoy left BRTF Mortuk two/three years back.
With Nekhohat's parents not disclosing anything about Bijoy to police, it remains a difficult task for police to pull up the accused.
However, Nekhohat's parents have decried police failure to nab Bijoy as well as the BRTF Mortuk's assertion that Bijoy had left the work place two/three years back.
Nekhohat Kilong was first married to a Bihari man living at Moreh and they had a son before the husband died.
After staying with her parents together with the son for some period, Nekhohat was married to Bijoy, another nonlocal man.
Nekhohat had a second son from the second marriage.
By the time Nekhohat was killed, her first son was around five years old while the second son was 14 months old.
Now the aged parents of Nekhohat are looking after her sons.
The aged couple are also looking after another six year old girl left behind another daughter who had expired due to an illness.
Further compounding their woes, Nekhohat's father is suffering from paralysis since the last 10 years and he cannot walk properly.
Nekhohat's mother too looks very week and he is a TB patient, according to some neighbours.
Despite their abject penury and helpless, they do not receive any assistance from the Government either in the form of BPL rice, AAY rice or old age pension.
Seikhojal said that his daughter was killed by Bijoy after dragging her away from an MGNREGS work site.
Saying that Bijoy always tortured his daughter, Seikhojal sought immediate attention of the authorities concerned to ensure that the murderer is punished according to law.
