Protest continues for Sanaton

Imphal, March 27 2021: A rally towards Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) demanding early justice for Sanaton Athokpam was stopped by police at Lamlong bridge today.

In a statement, Justice for Sanaton Athokpam said after a confrontation broke out with the police, 15 representatives were allowed to proceed towards RIMS.

However at RIMS they were not allowed to meet the Director of the institution, it said.

The 15 members raised several slogans at the RIMS Gate demanding justice while protesters at Khurai Lamlong blocked the roads for hours.

The protesters at Khurai Lamlong then took out a rally towards Sanaton's residence.

It may be noted here that Sanaton was a 5th semester MBBS student at RIMS.

He was found dead with both his hands tied behind inside his hostel' room at RIMS on March 15, 2021 .

Since then the Justice for Sanaton Athokpam has been staging protest to investigate and find out the truth behind the "suspected murder case" .
