Bishnupur CDO, police bust drug factory

A combined team of Bishnupur Commando Unit, Moirang PS and Phougakchao Ikhai PS raided a drug manufacturing unit located at Kwakta on Thursday and arrested one individual and recovered materials and equipment used in manufacturing drugs.
According to a police report, the combined team led by ASI Ph Sunil Singh also comprising teams of Moirang PS led by SI T Saphaba Singh and Phougakchao Ikhai PS SI Kh Premkumar Singh upon receiving information of the presence of a drug manufacturing plant at Kwakta on Thursday conducted search operation at the residence of one Md Janap Khan alias Babul of Kwakta Municipal Council, Kwakta ward number 3.During the search operation, an individual was detained at the spot for verification and upon questioning he identified himself as Md Nawas Khan Singamayum (25) s/o Md Tayeb Ali alias Tomba of Borayangbi Awang Leikai ward number 1.The team also recovered six white plastic sacks containing 202.2 kg of suspected poppy seeds, 36.5 kg of white chemical, jar of hydrogen peroxide 800 litre, 136 iron plates, one weighing scale marked as Jindal Stainless, one stand fan, two electric heaters and one Oppo mobile phone along with SIM card from the spot.
On further questioning, Nawaz disclosed that he is a worker at the drug manufacturing unit which is owned by his brother-in-law Md Janap Khan.
Nawaz was arrested along with the materials and equipment by observing relevant formalities.
He along with the seized items has been handed over to Moirang PS, where a case has been registered for further investigation, the report added.
