Imphal, May 26 2018:
Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) has said that it is shameful that no Government school has been able to clinch even a single position in the class X and XII exams this year.
Speaking to media persons at SSUM office at Keishampat today, its co convenor S Yaima Meitei said that none of the Government schools of the State were able to secure any positions in the class X and class XII exams held this year and this brings up questions regarding the reason for the existence of the Education Department.
Urging the Government teachers to drop the notion of being a teacher just for getting salaries, he demanded the authority concerned to appoint hard-working, qualified and eager but unemployed people as teachers of the present Government teachers cannot teach their students properly.
He informed that from May 28, SSUM will organise a week long discussion on Government schools under the theme 'Miraibiraba maheiroi singi chayol'.
Yaima also said that rich people send their children to private schools while the poor are stuck in Government schools, where they are often neglected and as such the success rate of private schools are far higher then Government schools.
On the other hand, he also informed that a discussion on the issue of the fee structure of private schools will be held at Hindi Parishad on May 30 as well.
