Kakching, November 25 2011:
"International trade gives a boost to the economy of a country or a state.
Besides the local demands, international trade will increase the demands of the local products which will help in developing the economy of the society." This was stated by Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries and Sericulture, O Nabakishore today at the inauguration function of a two day national seminar on 'North East India's Trade and Investment with Myanmar-Opportunities and Constraints' at Thoubal College, Thoubal.
The two day national seminar was organised by the Directorate of University and Higher Education, Govt of Manipur under the sponsorship of University Grant
Commission (UGC) .
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Nabakishore said that the trade relation between India and Myanmar will not only give the benefits to the traders but also to the whole people of the society.
One can avail a product of same value and quality at a much cheaper rate.
Even though Manipur has some informal trade with Myanmar since long, a proper and formal trade policy is needed to address the various inconveniences being faced by the traders in the state.
Lack of entrepreneurship and law and order situation in the state are the major cause of the inability to export local products, he added.
Principal Thoubal College W Nipamacha presided over the inaugural function.
Additional Director, Directorate of University and Higher Education Dr RK Yaiskul also attended the function as Guest of Honour.
