820 goods laden trucks leave Jiri

Imphal, August 25 2011:
Amidst the indefinite economic blockade imposed by SHDDC and UNC on all NHs in the state 820 goods laden trucks left Jiri for Imphal with tight security this morning.
Reports from Jiribam said that the goods laden trucks were escorted by a combined team of IRB, CDOs, VDFs and personnel of Jiribam Police Station headed by Assistant Commandant of 3rd IRB.
Official sources from the Home Department said that a team comprising of a large numbers of CDOs will be leaving Imphal tomorrow for escorting the team from Jiri.
If no unwanted incidents occur on the way the trucks will reach Imphal on August 28 .
Among the 820 trucks heading for Imphal there are 31 petrol tankers, 71 diesel tankers, six kerosene tankers, 17 LPG bullet tankers, 249 rice loaded trucks, 258 cement loaded trucks, four trucks with fertilizer, three trucks carrying medicines, two trucks carrying oxygen, two truccks carrying paper and 152 other trucks carrying other essential commodities.
The members of Transport & Driver Council have also sent cranes, excavators and an ambulance.
