JAC expects more from Manipur Police

The JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Okram Gyanendro Singh alias Aton Singh of Singjamei Okram Leikai, Imphal has lauded the Manipur Police for arresting the culprit involved in the killing of O Gyanendro, who was found shot dead inside his Maruti van on August 18 last at Langthabal Naran Konjil.
The JAC then urged the Home Minister to interrogate the culprit, who is now in police custody and effect arrest of others involved in the killing, furnish the information public on why Gyanendro was killed and award them befitting punishment in accordance to the law of the land.
PMGSY Calendar for 2014 released HNS/Imphal, Dec 24: RD &PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa released the wall calendar and table calendar of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for the year 2014 at his office chamber here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Francis said that the 9th Phase of PMGSY would be implemented soon at a cost Rs.577 crores in hills and Rs.106 in plains for a package of 200 works.
Moreover, the road development works of about 245 kilometres out of the total 502 kilometres have been completed under the 8th Phase of PMGSY, the Minister noted.
The release function was also attended by Chief Engineer of MSRRDA N Bapuchand and Additional Chief Engineer of MSRRDA Ph Shyamsunder.
AMADA to step up anti-drug drive HNS/IMPHAL, Dec 24: Along with reviving its Special Task Force formed under Secretary Drive Committee, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has decided to continue with its drive against drugs in view of the ensuing Bye-Bye and New Year festival.
Announcing this in a press release, AMADA appealed to the people especially youths not to use intoxicant substances while enjoying picnic and during celebration of Bye-Bye and New Year.
It also warned that the Special Task Force will take up actions against those who are found using drugs during the drive.
