Imphal, November 24 2010:
Three Japanese nationals embarked down memory lane, visiting the Japanese Memorial Park and Monument in Moirang in Manipur and paying floral tribute to their forefathers who had laid down their lives in World War II, fighting battles on the soil of Manipur.
Despite here for the tribute alone, in a profound note, they expressed their willingness to relay the logjam over the construction of the intended Japanese Hospital in Imphal to their government in Japan.
Akimaro Tsukamoto, Kenichitudo Hideyuki and Ebihara, accompanied by members of Indo-Japan Friendship and Japanese World War II victim memorial hospital trust Manipur visited Maibam Lok Ching, Irengbam, Moirang etc which have been memorialized for the sacrifices rendered by Japanese for their country during the War.
A rich and reflective floral tribute was paid at the Japanese memorial park and monument in Moirang.
Importantly, a site for the construction of the planned Japanese Hospital has been granted by the people of Eshiloukol Khabeisoi in their Khurai assembly constituency in Imphal East district.
But the project has run into operational bottleneck due to the permission pending with Union Home Ministry.
In a press meet in Imphal Hotel today, Rajen Ayamba, president, Japanese World War II victims memorial hospital trust Manipur, said that "Japanese nationals have been visiting Manipur very frequently since the past 3-4 years to operationalize the project.
We will take benefit of this particular visit to request Japanese Government to expedite the process of the construction of Japanese Hospital in Imphal" .
The Hospital upon completion will house 1500 bed and will provide 50% concessional benefit to people living below poverty line and also create employment to roughly 7000 people.
The project has acquired 2.5 acres of land and will procure more if the need arise, explained Rajen, and appeal to the people to help in bringing to fruition the construction of the hospital.
