Imphal, August 24 2015:
Warning the Centre not to threaten the territorial boundary of Manipur by the recently signed Naga Peace Accord between Government of India and NSCN (IM), Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India in this regard through BJP Manipur State Unit.
The memorandum, which was submitted by IPAK Chairman Sapamcha Jadumani to BJP State Unit President Thounaojam Chaoba at the BJP office, Nityaipat Chuthek, demanded the Indian Govt to preserve and protect the territorial integrity of Manipur State by respecting the spirit of federalism besides making suitable amendments to Article 3 of Indian Constitution or inserting appropriate provisions in the Constitution.
The memorandum also demanded that any agreement or accord should not affect the administration and control of scheduled areas and scheduled tribes within Manipur's territorial boundary status of the pre-merger agreement and also demanded amendment of Indian Constitution in the presence of the state's representatives considering the wishes of the Manipur people.
During the submission of the memorandum Sapamcha Jadumani expressed his doubt on the Centre's assurance that Manipur's boundary will not be disturbed by the Naga Accord.
It said that not consulting the Manipur Government before any settlement for the Naga peace process purely indicates that there is something wrong with the Peace Accord.
The IPAK Chairman also blamed the Central Government for allegedly showing a step-motherly attitude towards Manipur and its people and added that IPAK and the people will always stand together against those who try to disturb the territorial integrity of the state.
