Legal awareness for differently-abled held

All Tribal Disables' Union, Manipur (ATDUM) today said a lot of people are discriminatory towards differently-abled people by making unfair judgments against them so it is vital to raise legal awareness among the people.
Momo Tangtanga, president, ATDUM made this comment while participating at a one-day legal awareness camp organized by ATDUM under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) at community hall, Yurembam Kabui village (Awang), Imphal West district.
He said it is essential for both the physically challenged people and normal people to have the basic knowledge of legal affair, acknowledging that everybody is equal in the eyes of the law.

Tatanga said many people are discriminatory to disabled people on certain grounds and make unfair judgment against them at home, offices and public places and this must be stopped.
Physically-challenged persons need support from the people in order to get their rights, he said.
"A disabled person gets his or her physical condition since birth and it is not his or her choice," the ATDUM president asserted.
A Guneshwar Sharma, member secretary, MSLSA, W Joykumar, member, Human Rights Initiative and N Tejkumar, Director of Prosecution, Government of Manipur also participated the programme.
