Anti-Rabies vaccination programme conducted

Imphal, October 22 2020: With an eye to prevent further loss of life due to rabies, a mass anti-rabies vaccination programme was conducted at the community hall of The Western Sporting Club, Ngairangbam in Imphal West yesterday.

A press release of the club said that around 120 adult dogs and around 60 adult cats were vaccinated and certificates for vaccination were also distributed.

As a part of the vaccination campaign, cats and dogs which are below three months will be administered booster dose on January 21, 2021 before their usual annual dosage while cats and dogs which are older than three months will be given the second dosage on November 21 this year, the release said.

While appealing to all pet owners to keep the certificates of vaccination carefully and keep them free from medical conditions, the club stated that the particular owner should bear all the responsibility in case an incident similar to the recent loss of two lives repeats.

The club also hailed the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services' Joint Director Sh Ibomcha; Doctor of Veterinary Hospital Khumbong, Th Subachandra and other staff for their prompt action and facilitating the anti-rabies vaccination programme.
