Imphal, November 21 2012:
Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) has categorically asserted that the ongoing public bandh imposed by Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) should be strictly confined to the territorial jurisdiction of the Kukis since it is for a Kuki state.
In a statement, General Secretary of TKLI Ninglum KS said that encroaching upon the jurisdiction of other communities is unwarranted and would meet stiff opposition.
There is no Kuki land along the stretch of Imphal-Ukhrul road, and hence, the bandh organizers should leave it alone by not harassing the vehicles plying along Imphal-Ukhrul road at any point of time.
"This may be taken as an eye opener and not as a threat to our Kuki brethren", Ninglum observed, while contending that administrative jurisdiction of the block does not necessarily follow the territorial area of different communities.
Historical and indigenous people's village area is the real demarcation of boundaries which has to be strictly followed and honoured, the TKLI General Secretary maintained.
