Chandel, August 21 2021: The Unique Business Association, Chandel district (UBAC) and Dingpi Area Kuki Truck Owners Association appealed to the State Government to post a local District Forest Officer in the larger interest of the people of Chandel.

The Associations in separate statements informed that most of the people of Chandel are engaged in forest related activities for their livelihood and, most of them are illiterate and are economically weak.

"Since they are directly engaged in forest related activities, they need an officer who understands their basic needs for the day to day activities.

For that a local person is most likely to be well aware of the problems of the people of Chandel," it added.

It said that when outside officers are posted in Chandel there might be linguistic problems, miscommunication between the public and the officer, which will again bring more trouble to the public.

The Associations on behalf of the people of Chandel further appealed to the Chief Minister to consider the request for posting a local District Forest Officer.
