Elangbam Dinamani presented with Gopal Sharma Award

As part of World Poetry Day observance, Sahitya Thoupang Lup, Imphal today presented the Gopal Sharma Award-2017 to Elangbam Dinamani in a function held at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal.
The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a citation, a memento and a shawl.
Th Tombi Singh, President of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad attended as chief guest and Yumlembam Ibomcha, Sahitya Akademi Awardee attended as president of the function respectively.
Elangbam Dinamani who is currently residing at Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai, Imphal West, was born on December 14 of 1940.He started writing short stories, poems, dramas, novel, critics and translated stories during his college life.
As a prolific writer, Dinamani has more than 15 books on different subjects to his credit.
Some of the books are "Thaklabi", "Morambi Angaobi", "Pistol ama kundalei ama", "Tingkhanglei", "Imeishuni tourashuni hung hung", "Lai kishi", "Epak" short stories.
"Choijainarabi", "Kumbang Saraba Pareng", "Luribadi", "Seireng Khudop Amatang" are from the poetry books, in drama section few books are "Khongsana", "Kapkhairamdai", "Wakat Upu", in critics "Manipur Sahitya Amasung Sahityakar", "khwairakpam Chaoba", "Dr Kamal", and "Tyagpatra", "Hayavadan", ""Ingagi Nongma", etc are some of the books translated into Manipuri of different titles from various Indian languages.
Elangbam Dinamani received the Sahitya Akademi award in the year 1982 for his book of short stories title "Pistol ama kundalei ama".
A poetry reading session was held while a lecture on "Houjikki Manipuri Seirengda" and "Samajgi Mami" by Dilip Mayengbam was highlighted as part of the programme.
