Imphal, January 20 2020: Prizes for winners of the "50th short play competition for creative directors", organised by Theatre Centre Manipur and Manipur State Kala Akademi, under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi from December 13 to 18 last year, were distributed during a ceremony held at MDU hall yesterday.

CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam graced the function as the chief guest while Manipur State Kala Akademi secretory L Keshworjit attended as guest of honour and Theatre Centre president Padmashree Wareppa Naba as the functional president.

Karam Shyam, while speaking at the ceremony, stated that there has been less development and encouragement when it comes to Manipur's art and culture.

Even though, it has been well recognised and has been representing Manipur, the people who have been dedicating and contributing in this field have been receiving less encouragement and promotion.

Maintaining that necessary steps should be taken up to change the situation, the Minister underlined the need to conduct workshop or interactions with concerned authorities and State Government included.
