Family urges probe

Imphal, December 19 2017: The family members of a 45 year old housewife, identified as Thounaojam (o) Inaobi w/o Th Ranjankumar of Lamjao Makha Leikai, have urged the police to investigate into the mysterious death of the woman and to punish the culprit (s) involved .

According to the family members, the deceased woman Inaobi was working as a support staff cum mother at Lameidong Keinahal Memorial School .

The family members claimed that on December 17, at around 9 am, Inaobi left for her daughter's place at Wangoi Laiphrakpam Leikai but failed to return home that day .

Initially, they thought that she (Inaobi) might have stayed at her daughter's place but, yesterday one of the family members received a phone call from an unknown number informing that Inaobi had died at RIMS hospital .

The family members went to RIMS hospital and came to know that the phone call was made from a patient party staying at RIMS casualty ward .

It was also revealed that Inaobi was brought to the hospital yesterday morning at around 8 by an individual who only identified himself as Raj .

The body was taken back home for performing the last rites.

However, on seeing the bruise marks on the left shoulder of the deceased woman and taking into account the missing items of the woman, including her mobile phone, two ATM cards and Rs 5000 in cash, the family members informed the police and the body was brought back for post mortem .

The family members expressed suspicion that Inaobi might have been physically assaulted by some unknown miscreants resulting in her death, and appealed to the Police Department to find the culprit (s) and punish them according to the law of the land .

According to the source, the post mortem of the deceased woman was conducted at RIMS morgue today, in the presence of Duty Magistrate and with full video coverage .

The dead body was later handed over to family members, it added.
