CM thanked for hearing Meitei Pangal issues

Expressing happiness over chief minister N Biren Singh's assurance of translating into action the demands of Meitei Pangal community, All Manipur Muslim Organisations Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) president SM Jalal said that AMMOCOC and its constituent bodies thanked the chief minister for hearing grievances of the community.
SM Jalal informed media persons on Friday at AMMOCOC office that a large delegation of Meitei Pangal community raised various issues and grievances during a meeting with CM 'Biren on Thursday evening.
The delegation comprising leaders of AMMOCOC, Jamiat-Ul-Ulama, UMMWDO, AMMDC, PSPA and other constituent bodies of AMMOCOC submitted a 24-point charter of demands relating to the community and some of the key points mentioned in the charter of demands were discussed with the chief minister.
The key points were conduct of socio economic caste survey for Meitei Pangal community, inclusion of Meitei Pangal cultural studies in the syllabus of Manipur University of Culture, giving official recognition to Meitei Pangal women who took part in the Nupi Lai movement ajnd reservation of seats for Meitei Pangal students in admission in Manipur University and DM University, Jalal said.
According to Jalal, socio-economic caste survey for Meitei Pangal has not been held since 2004 though it has to be conducted every ten years and CM N Biren Singh assured of conducting the same at the earliest.
The chief minister also assured of looking into the demand for 4 percent reservation for Meitei Pangal in admission, he said, adding that the CM also informed the delegation to submit names of Meitei Pangal women who took part in the Nupi Lal movement.
Apart from this, the CM also assured of constructing a Haj House for Meitei Pangal community at the earliest, Jalal added.
