Fast unto death adjourned

Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) and Manipur Proletariat Peoples' Democratic Union (MPPDU) have adjourned their fast unto death agitation till the winter Assembly session.
Speaking to media persons after a marathon meeting of SSUM and MPPDU at Manipur Press Club today, SSUM's convenor/ secretary publicity and propaganda, Naorem Tanoranjan said that the agitators met with the State Government yesterday and based on the assurance given by the authority, the associations have decided to adjourn their fast unto death protest, which was organised as a part of their agitation demanding the Government to take necessary actions to amend Article 3 of the Indian Constitution and to safeguard the territorial integrity of the State.
He pointed out that the agitation will be postponed till the winter Assembly session taking into account the welfare of the people of the State.
Tanoranjan also said that the meeting also passed a resolution to organise a meeting between the State Government and the CSOs, Meira Paibis and Clubs along with SSUM and MPPDU, for the protection of the indigenous peoples of the State.
