Man dies of self-immolation; another found dead

Imphal, October 19 2014: In an apparent case of suicide, a man lost his life due to burnt injuries which he suffered from self-immolation at Samurou Awang Leikai under Wangoi Police Station on October 18 at around 4.40 am.

The deceased has been identified as Nongmeikapam Robindro (34) s/o N Irabot of Samurou Awang Leikai.

Police sources said the man committed self-immolation on October 17 around 9.30 pm.

He was rushed to RIMS Hospital but succumbed to the injuries on October 18 early morning.

On the other hand, a man was found dead at a drain at an area adjoining Tinggri and Mapao village under Sekmai Police Station on evening of October 17 .

The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Sorom (35) form Jharkhand but presently staying at Tinggri as a laborer.

The identification of the man was made by the police today.

Post mortem of the dead body will be performed at RIMS morgue on October 20, the sources added.
