Meeteis fighting narco-terrorists for all indigenes: UCM

It is for the good of entire indigenous communities of Manipur that the Meetei community is fighting Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists, stated United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Yk Dhiren.
Interacting with the media on the sidelines of 'Langban Tarpan Heisoi Tamba' ritual held for those who laid their lives for protection of territorial integrity of Manipur at the Great June Uprising Memorial complex at Kekrupat on Wednesday, which was attended by family members of the martyrs and volunteers of many civil society organisations, Dhiren said the conflict started by illegal immigrants particularly Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to uproot the indigenous people of Manipur is being encountered by the majority Meetei community to save the land and its people.
The ongoing conflict must be reasonably resolved with comprehensive crushing of instinct of illegal immigrants and their deportation or else entire indigenous communities of Manipur will be affected in near future even to the extinction of some indigenous communities, he said.
According to Yk Dhiren, a common thought for all the indigenous communities settling together with harmony amidst the crisis need to be developed.
In this regard, UCM will communicate with community leaders living in and outside Manipur soon and sit together.
Apart from this, UCM will start discussion from this month on saving Manipur with collective understanding on all issues including internal and external interferences on the present crisis.
Union home minister Amit Shah had clearly stated that illegal immigrants and drug issue are main factors behind the present crisis.
With the acceptance and acknowledgement of this fact, the Government of India must stop the attack on indigenous people using sophisticated weapons by illegal immigrants particularly SoO groups, he said and strongly condemned confusion and anxiety being created among the people due to inaction of the government.
According to Yk Dhiren, Government of India should start process for NRC and speed up border fencing while confiding that UCM will submit a memorandum in this regard very soon.
He also said that UCM will initiate legal action against those involved in the attempt to distort the history and territorial boundary of Manipur including retired paramilitary officers.
