Imphal, September 18 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) convenor in-charge Khomdram Ratan on Friday said since the Governor is yet to give his assent to the three Bills, it is time for the people to remain calm and wait.
Ratan was taking part in the 50th foundation day celebration of Young Organising Club, Kodompokpi Maning Leikai on Friday.
He said that one should not be afraid of anyone while making effort to safeguard the indigenous people of the State.
The JCLPS leader clarified that the three Bills intended to protect the indigenous people will not affect the interest of the hill people at all and pointed out that these Bills are not meant for a single community.
All indigenous communities of Manipur will be safeguarded by these Bills, he reiterated.
Ratan expressed displeasure that a handful of people have been allegedly attempting to disrupt the passage of the Bills with the intent to break up the integrity of the State.
He also expressed surprise with the intention of Mizoram Chief Minister who has been openly opposing implementation of ILPS in Manipur and the Nagaland MP who wants to split the State into two Union Territories.
Ratan said there could be a hidden agenda behind all troubles created from different quarters as witnessed in the State in recent times.
Such troubles show a clear intent of disintegrating Manipur, he claimed.
Kodompokpi Zila Parishad member L Surchandra and Film Actors Guild General Secretary Gokul were also present during the event.
Prizes sponsored by Zenith Academy founder S Manaoton were also given to meritorious students to mark the occasion.
