Imphal, March 18 2021:
The mass uprising in the neighbouring country Myanmar has upset many who believe in peace and democracy.
When many democratic country criticized and even took action by way of imposing sanction and allowing mass demonstration for restoration of democracy in the country, India government which is the largest democracy in the world still gives no official statement in the development.
Instead the Union government has order to deport those who cross the border and took refuge in the country due to fear death and atrocities.
At a time when the country is silent over the development at Myanmar, Mizoram , the Indian state neighbouring Myanmar has extended support to those who are victims of the Military Junta.
The North East Dialogue Forum in a statement appreciated the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) for organizing state-wide Candlelight Light Vigil all over Mizoram to express solidarity and sympathy for the innocent public of Myanmar as the result of the November 2020 elections were overturned by Myanmar's military leadership through staging a coup thereby, making democracy a farce and humiliation.
The statement said that the military has made pawns of Myanmar's administrative machinery including those responsible for maintaining law and order and upholding social peace whereby the country's police have been used to thwart and throttle democratic non-violent protest against the military takeover of the country by gunning down innocent and non-violent protestors, thereby suppressing, intimidating and denying civil, political, democratic and human rights to the people of Myanmar.
Military establishment all over, except in a few countries, are supposed to submit to civilian administration and not the other way round.
The North East Dialogue Forum urged upon all Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Students' Organisations, and all who believe and committed to democratic and non-violent principles to express solidarity with the Myanmarese citizens who are facing the brunt of the subversion of democracy in that country and who stand for justice, peace, tranquility and equality to exhibit so by taking forward what the MZP has just done.
