A 10-day workshop cum production on 'Khong-jom Prava' organised by Kan-glei Sheishaklon Shindam-shang (KSS) under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi at the Nongmeibung multipurpose hall of Eastern Students' Club ended on Sunday.
The valedictory ceremony of the workshop was attended by Manipur University of Culture (MUC) examination coordinator Laimayum Devendrajit Sharma as chief guest, KSS president and MUC guest faculty Khuman-them Sundari as president and MUC assistant professor Dr Manju Elangbam as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Sundari recounted that earlier 'Khongjom Prava' used to be performed for 5-10 day in every locality and villages but now it's hard to even witness one day of performance.
Hence, the workshop cum production was organised to preserve the age old art form.
Noting that the workshop was participated by 20 artistes, she expressed confidence that the revival process of the art form will gain momentum.
A week long workshop cum production of Mani-puri Folk Dance organised at the same venue by Kanglei Nat Cultural Organisation under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi also concluded on Sunday with the closing function attended by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Production Unit retired senior production assistant N Amusana as chief guest, MUC assistant professor Dr Manju Elangbam as president and MUC assistant professor Dr Nganbi Chanu as guest of honour.
Speaking at the programme, N Amusana stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting state's traditional art forms while calling upon the students to work hard to further nurture it.
On the other hand, a 30-day workshop cum production on dance drama 'Nritya Natya' organised by Dance Drama Music Repertory Union in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi ended at JNMDA auditorium on Sunday.
The programme was attended by Manipur Cultural Council president Kangjam Radhakumar, Imphal West Zilla Parishad up-former adhyaksha S Merajao and JNMDA director as presidium members.
