Tamenglong 'total blackout' stir suspended on DC's assurance

Tamenglong, July 17 2014:
With C Arthur W, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong giving an assurance to look into their demand seriously, Zeliangrong Baudi (Manipur), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF-AMN), and Village Authority Chairmen Council (VACC) Tamenglong have called off their agitation temporarily.
The Zeliagnrong frontal organisations were imposing ban on all National projects in Tamenglong district in pursuance of their demand for rectifying the irractic power situation in Tamenglong.
Announcing lifting of their stir temporarily, a joint press statement signed by Thomas Kamei, President of ZB (M); David Kamei, General Secretary of Zeliangrong Youth Front (AMN) and Athanbou Pamai, President of VACC Tamenglong district informed that a talk was held between the agitators and government officials at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong with C Arthur W, IAS on the chair and during a talk, an agreement was reached.
Accordingly, it was agreed that an 11 KV line from Kangpokpi will be arranged for power supply to Tamenglong within 5 days from 15th July 2014 and another 33 KV line from Jiribam will also be arranged within 15 days for supplying power to Tamenglong and Nungba area.
In addition to this, it was agreed that the 'Bushing' of Rengpang Transformer will be arranged within 30 days.
The bushing is now on the way from Guwahati and Deputy General Manager (DGM)/EE Shri.
Doren Singh will remain at Tamenglong Station to look after the Power situation.
During the meeting, C Arthur W, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong also informed that a new transformer shall arrive when the Irang Bridge is repaired by BRTF.
The meeting also discussed that the Manipur Public Services Commission (MPSC) shall conduct appointment process for entry into the Power Sector which will put an end to the appointment and promotion through political means and Zeliangrong frontal organisations requested that local canidates should be given preference at the time of appointment, the joint statement added.
