Archery coach feted

A recognition function of archery coach B Chaoba Sharma, inventor of Indian Round Modern Takedown Bow was held at Bachaspatimayum Mandop, Bamon Leikai, today.
The function was graced by Yaiskul A/C MLA Thokchom Satyabrata Singh and Corporator, IMC, Ward No 18, Yaiskul A/C, Laimayum Inunganbi Devi, as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the event, Satyabrata underscored the importance of encouraging and promoting the enterprising works taken up by innovative individuals like B Chaoba Sharma.
He said that the number of innovators and entrepreneurs will increase in the State when both the Government and the society encourage the people who invent new things and produce significant ideas.
Informing around 300 archers have reached noteworthy levels and now occupy certain positions in the society because of the contribution made by B Chaoba Sharma, the MLA went on to opine that recognising the works done by the bow maker will not only produce more number of successful archers in the State but will also help generate employment for many unemployed youth.
Speaking at the event B Chaoba Sharma said that he started making ordinary bows in 1976 and later started producing Indian Round Takedown Bow in 1982.Claiming that a Manipuri archer bagged a medal in a reputed National Archery Championship using a bow he created, he asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during in his visit to Manipur, was impressed by the bow when he saw it at Luwangshangbam and asked him (Chaoba) to give 15 more of the same bow.
