Imphal, November 16, 2012: A five-day exhibition on handloom products of clusters, Imphal West organised by District Handlooms and Textiles, Imphal West commenced from today at Yumnam Leikai Lairembi Lampak with Additional Director (Commerce & Industries) V Tualthang gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest.

Noting rapid strides made by the local weavers and the increasing markets for the handloom products, Tualthang expressed that the State weavers have been able to compete with the best in the profession.

Highlighting that handloom and handicraft products of Manipur could be a sustainable and profitable venture, he also called upon the weavers and handicraft artisans to maintain quality of the products.

Project Manager of District Handlooms and Textiles, Imphal West M Rajen Singh and Assistant Director (in-c harge) of Weaver Service Centre, Imphal Kommu Ravindra were respectively functional president and guest of honour of the exhibition's inaugural programme.

Handloom and handicraft items are being put on display and sale at a total of 101 stalls.
