Digital Payment Mela held

A 'Digital Payment Mela in Smart City Imphal for Telecom Retailers', organised by Ministry of Communication & IT, Department of Telecommunications, GoI was held at the Mini Conference Hall, City Convention Centre Imphal today.
Principal Controller of Communication Accounts Eastern Region Kolkata GK Chin who graced the inaugural event as chief guest said that the objective of the mela is to promote digital payment atleast in the city at retailers' level.
Manipur has covered only five percent in terms of digitization while Assam has reached 12 per cent.
Stating that telecom service providers play a vital role in increasing the level- of digitization, he appealed to the service providers to educate their clients or customers about digital payment, as nobody wants to carry bundles of cash nowadays.
As part of the mela, presentations were given by the representatives of banks including State Bank of India and Telecom Service Providr ers and interacted with the gathering.
Officials from CCA Shillong, Imphal Smart City Limited, Imphal Municipality also participated in the mela.
