Over 53 surgeries conducted for free at Tamenglong district hospital

Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Manipur State Chapter, Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) and district hospital, Tamenglong jointly organised a two days free rural surgery camp at district hospital Tamenglong from July 14.The joint body conducted 53 surgeries including 33 major surgeries while it conveyed that such initiative will also be taken up in other districts also.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Lamphelpat today, Shija Hospital Manager cum Director Dr Kh Palin stated that the free rural surgery camp conducted by ASI (Manipur State Chapter), formed by Government and private hospitals in Manipur, and AMASI at Tamenglong district hospital included Laparoscopic Hernia Repair, Laparoscopic Appendectomy, Laparoscopic Ovarian Cyst removal, Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, Laparoscopic Varicocelectomy, Open hernia repair, open appendectomy, Caesarean section among other surgeries.
Although 77 people participated in the camp, however, around 50 individuals were operated, he stated.
The camp was attended a medical team of 35 persons.
The surgery team was led by Dr Kh Palin, Chairman ASI, Dr Jugindra S, secretary AMASI and Dr N Jitendra, HoD surgery, JNIMS and member ASI and AMASI.
