Imphal, May 16 2020:
Releasing former OC of Moreh Police Station who was involved in drug smuggling case on a PR bond due to failure of the IO concerned to submit charge sheet is 'nothing but humiliating the State Government who are on war against drugs', said Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in a statement today.
CADA also stated that necessary enquiry must be initiated against the Investigating Officer (IO) to learn his reason for not submitting the charge sheet on time and if found guilty, he must be terminated from his post.
Opining that senior police officers should not remain mum when their junior attempted to blacken the character of Police Department, it added that encouraging 'such negligence' will undo all efforts of the State Government to check selling, smuggling and abusing of drugs in the State.
If smuggling and selling of drugs and substance abuse are not checked by giving befitting punishments to all culprits, the State might be permanently affected by drugs one day, CADA asserted.
