Survey on PBR conducted

The first-ever survey on People's Biodiversity Register (PBR) of Jiribam District was conducted on Wednesday at B Huonven Village, Jiribam.
The survey was carried out under National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai and sponsored by Manipur Biodiversity Board (MBB), which is headed by Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu.
The survey team includes Dr Deshworjit Ningombam, Botanist; N Tombi Raj, Manipur Biodiversity Board (MBB) Member; H Dolendro Singh, Environmentalist along with experts from Trans-Disciplinary University (TDU), Bangalore.
Speaking to media persons about the survey during a press meet held at the Guest House of Jiribam Municipal Council, Dr Deshworjit Ningombam said that about 500 species of plants including 4 bamboo species and 2 canes species and varieties of fishes were found during the survey.
