HQ IGAR (S) celebrates 15th raising day

Imphal, March 15 2018: HQIGAR (South) added yet another milestone to its glorious and splendid history as it celebrated 15th Raising Day today.

HQ IGAR (South) was raised in 2004 at the historic Kangla Fort and moved subsequently to its present location at Mantripukhri.

Driven by the urge to usher in the well being of Manipur and its people, the efforts of the last 15 years are today visible on the peaceful streets of Imphal and other districts of Manipur, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.

Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, IG AR (S) conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all ranks of HQ IGAR (South) and applauded their contribution towards creating a conducive and secure environment in the State.

He exhorted the force to strive for the well being and safety of the people of Manipur at all times.

Fondly called "Friends of Manipur", IGAR (South) has contributed not only to the security and peace in the State, but has also aided development activities especially in the border areas.

Be it sports, culture events, youth empowerment or health of people, IGAR (South) has been at the fore front of all activities.

Its dedication and enthusiasm to serve the people of the State selflessly is the reason why IGAR (South) is always looked up to by the people of the Manipur during times of need, it said.

The elegant Manipuri culture and sporting excellence have also been nurtured well by IGAR (South) during the years gone by.

By showcasing the talent in sports at Regional, National and International levels, providing them with training, organising sports competitions & coaching camps, distribution of sports items, sponsoring selection in the armed forces and Assam Rifles, IGAR (South) has proved that it has been a true friend of the Manipuri people, it mentioned.

The raising day celebrations marked yet another successful year to the annals of the history of HQ IGAR (South) and the oldest paramilitary force - Assam Rifles.

In a short span of time since its raising in 2004, IGAR (South) has been able to achieve a lot and continues to strive for excellence in every field.

On its raising day, IGAR (South) took the opportunity to reassure the people of Manipur that it is committed to the well being, safety and security of Manipuri people, added the press release.
