Discourse on 'understanding CSO movement' on Feb 17

Imphal, February 15 2020: A one day discourse on the theme 'Understanding the Civil Society Organization movement in Manipur: Challenges and Prospects' will be held during the 11 death anniversary of Dr Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen at Mapari Ningsingkol (near Cheirap Court complex) on February 17.Speaking to media persons at Mapari Ningsingkol Lup (MANIL) complex today afternoon, Yumlembam Kapur, secretary of MANIL said that the death anniversary observation will be marked by paying floral tributes to the trio from 10:30 am and will be followed by dedication of songs by Roop Raag.

The function will be attended by acting Chairperson of Manipur Human Rights Commission, Khaidem Mani as the chief guest while MANIL chairman, Soram Tikendrajit and president of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union AMWJU) Bijoy Kakchingtabam will be present as president and guest of honour respectively.

After the formal function, the discourse will be held with retired Principal of DM College of Arts, A Dorendro, retired senior SP, Potshangbam Sonamani and Assistant Professor, Political Science, DM College of Arts, Arambam Noni as discourse panellists.

On the other hand, appealing to the people to take part in the event and in paying floral tributes to the trio, Soram Tikendrajit, president of MANIL said that Hopson Ningshen, a functionary of NSCN (I-M) who was involved in the murder of Dr Th Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen in 2009, is serving life imprisonment at Tihar jail, as his appeal before the Supreme court was turned down in November last year.

He further stated that out of three more individuals who were allegedly involved in the crime, one died while the other two have absconded as per the report of CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) .
