Imphal, September 14 2024:
Shiv Sena national leader Rahul Shewale on Friday submitted a memorandum to union home minister Amit Shah urging for handing over additional power in addition to its usual law and order powers to the Manipur government stating that the security advisor and the DGP posted by the Centre in the state have been unable to bring peace for more than a year.
The memorandum was initially handed over by Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit president M Tombi to Rahul Shewale in Delhi.
During the meeting, Tombi urged the national leader to help bring a solution to the conflict at the highest level.
Later, Tombi left Delhi for Mumbai to meet Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde.
Speaking to The People s Chronicle via telephone, Tombi informed that the memorandum highlighted the failure of the security advisor and DGP, who have been posted by the Centre in Manipur, in controlling and putting an end to the prevailing conflict in the state, as wished by the people.
He continued that for the first time in Manipuri history, drone bombings and rocket attacks were carried out to kill civilians.
However, the two top officers deputed by the Centre are unable to control the violence despite having the power to maintain law and order.
As such, the memorandum urged for restoring the law and order powers of the state government apart from giving additional powers to deploy state forces and defend against Myanmar-based narco-terrorists and removal of the co-called "neutral" Central forces.
He also called for removal of Kuki MLAs, who won with BJP tickets, from their seats, while also restoring movement along the national highways.
