TSLD urges CWC Ukhrul

The Tangkhul Shanao Long, Delhi (TSLD) or Tangkhul Women Union, Delhi has said the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Ukhrul should expeditiously open fixed deposit accounts for each child till they reach the age of 18.TSLD also said for the children who have already crossed 18, the money be deposited in their account, to be used for their welfare as per the convenience of their respective families.
According to TSLD, the government of Rajasthan had extended monetary support of Rs 10,000 to each of the rescued children, and the amount has already been handed over to CWC, Ukhrul on April 19 .
On March 12 and March 25, 2013, Tangkhul Shanao Long, Delhi, (TSLD), along with NGO FXB Suraksha, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Rajasthan, social activists and media persons rescued 53 children from an illegal shelter run by Pastor Jacob John in Jaipur.
Of the 53 children, 23 were from Manipur and the children were handed over to the state Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on April 19, 2013 .
TSLD said it would also like to know from CWC, Ukhrul about the process through which the rescued children were handed over to Rural Education Development Association (REDA); an NGO run by one of the CWC members, to provide the bridge course.
"On what competencies was REDA chosen to run the residential training centre?.
What are the monitoring mechanisms put in place to ensure the best training for the children?," TSLD asks.
