Meritorious students felicitated

Thongam Sajou Singh Memorial Trust, Ningorhthong has honoured meritorious students of Thongju AC during a function at the community hall ofKhana Chaoba Ibudhou Wangbarel, Akampat, today.
Terming education as the 'backbone' for development, chief guest of the event, Works Minister Th Bishwajit spoke about the importance of sports education.
Saying that the incumbent Government under PM Narendra Modi is working to provide free education to all the children upto the standard of XII, Biswajit conveyed that under the tenure of the late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Article 21 (A), Right to Education was added in the Indian Constitution to encourage education, curb poverty and increase human resource development in the Country.
Urging the students to thrive for perfection, president of the event MLA P Saratchandra expressed encouraged the students to work for development of the society.
PHE Minister L Dikho, Mandico chairman, Dr Radheshyam Yumnam, MLA Samuel Jendai, MLA Vungzagin Valte, MLA Paonam Brojen, MLA O Lukhoi, MLA Lourembam Rameshwor Meitei, MLA T Robindro, Members and Pradhan of Thongju Zilla Parishad and Thongju Gram Panchayat also attended the event.
A total of 96 meritorious students of Thongju AC who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE were felicitated with cash awards and certificates.
W Johnson and L Vikash who have cracked the prelims of Civil Service Examination was also honoured in the event.
