Manipuri blind-singer Takhellambam Mandakini, who was recently kicked out from the mega event of Zee Television's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, has claimed that she was ousted from the competition without giving any reason.
Addressing a press conference organized by Youths' Club Brahmapur here on Saturday, Mandakini said "I was selected among the top 15 contestants and was at 5th rank.
Accordingly, the jury members handed over a medal and the organizers provided two trainers for my practices.
However, while the practice session is underway, Zee TV authorities suddenly expelled me a day before the show on October 10 without giving any reason" .
She also contended that the organizers hastily changed the decision to select a total number of 24 contestants by adding 9 others in addition already selected 15 .
Out of the selected 15 contestants, 6 of them including herself were expelled without giving any reasons while selecting some others from the second screening.
Seeking justice against the misconduct of Zee TV, Mandakini said that the selection for the mega event was due to her performance at the screening held at Mumbai. She also appealed to all the people of the state for support in teaching a lesson against such racial discrimination.
Mandakini's brother, Bijesh Takhellambam, who accompanied the singer during the competition, informed that his sister has been working hard for the last 4-5 years to participate in the competition.
"I have never seen such a competition in my life.
We came to know that Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is a third class show, what matters there is not talent but to earn money out of it," Bijesh added.
Members of Film Forum Manipur, All Manipur Matam Esei Kanglup and Youths' Club Brahmapur were also present during the press conference.
They decided to take appropriate action against the expulsion of the singer from the competition without giving any reason.
