Imphal, September 13 2024:
While questioning how the conflict can be resolved when those in ruling worship the centre as gods and those in the opposition continue to toe the same line; RPI-Athawale national secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam wondered whether there is no competent leader present to unite all by keeping aside all differences and work to save Manipur.
Releasing a video clip in this regard on Friday, Maheshwar said that the 16-month long violence took a grave turn when Kuki terrorists started attacking the civilians with drone bombings and rockets.
However, the government is yet to take any concrete action in the matter, other than convening a cabinet meeting and urging the Governor on issues irrelevant to distress caused to the masses.
He then remarked that the so-called cabinet meeting and urging the Governor did not see to the removal of two Kuki ministers, who have not been attending the same for over a year and four months.
He questioned why the people are being deceived into believing that the violence would soon dissipate.
Maheshwar further raised posers on whether Manipur's existence and survival holds less value the electoral politics and reminded that it is no longer the time for the ruling and the opposition to throw mud at each other, but to unite and work first and foremost to save Manipur.
"How long are the village volunteers, Meira Paibis and young nationalists expected to defend the land, when the leaders are behaving as such?" he questioned.
