Large quantity of drugs destroyed at Lilong

Imphal, June 13 2011: A large quantity of drugs including 4885 strips of SP-tablet, 418 strips of N-10 capsules, 69 bottles of phensydryl, 92 bottles of Recodex, 61 bottles of Lupi cough syrup, 36 strips of Actified tablets, 29 boxes of Cold Go and two gram of heroin (no.4) were destroyed by burning at Lilong Bazar on Sunday.

The items, seized from illegal peddlers during drives conducted by the voluntary organisations in Lilong area jointly with the troops of 28 AR were destroyed by burning in the presence of personnel of the 28 AR Lilong Post, Lilong police led by its OC, local administration and volunteers of the NGOs, said a statement of the 28 AR today.

The burning down of the items was performed after a mass anti-drug programme was organized by the 28 AR in joining hands with local police and NGOs with the sole aim to root out the menace of drugs in Lilong area, the released added.
