Imphal, September 12 2019: Employees Union of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution on Thursday staged sit-in protest at its office complex at Sangaiprou denouncing hand grenade hurled at the residence of Chongtham Purnachandra at Kwakeithel on September 8.Chongtham Purnachandra works as storekeeper at the Directorate of Consumers Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Speaking to media persons during the cease work strike, union president SA Halim said that unidentified persons hurled hand grenade at the Kwakeithel residence of Purnachandra at around 1.30 pm of September 8.Police were informed later the hand grenade was disposed safely at some place, he said expressing concern that such incident put the lives of innocent people including children at risk.

The sit-in condemned the incident in the strongest term and appealed individual/groups concerned to stop such action that may harm lives of people.
