Festival of Jhulon Yatra held at JNMDA

Imphal, August 12 2019: Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Imphal organised Festival of Jhulon Yatra (Jhulon Kumhei) at the Academy's Mandap at around 2 pm.

Art and Culture retired Commissioner RK Nimai graced the function as the chief guest while JNMDA vice Chairman Professor H Tombi attended as functional president.

Speaking at the function, RK Nima said that JNMDA Imphal has continued to organise function which promotes and portrays the art and culture of the State till date.

He said that JNMDA is efficiently and effectively playing the role of an art and culture academy by disseminating many valuable knowledge to the masses.

Maintaining that Jhulon Eshei is also performed at Shri Shri Govindajee and localities as well, he urged all to be extra cautious in adding or supplementing modern techniques into the age old culture and traditions.

Art and culture of the State has always identified the people and everyone should extend support and assistance in safeguarding and promoting it.

The main highlights of this years celebration included Nupa Jhulon (Jhulon Eshei) by Th Sudhir Singh and his party and Pung by M Seityaban Singh and his party along with Nupi Pala (Jhulon Eshei) by N Romila Devi and her party and Pung by B Helish and party.

Notably, the academy has been celebrating the festival for the past five years.
