Imphal, December 11 2020: A team of Imphal West district police arrested a 21-year-old along with 378 grams of brown sugar from Langthabal Phuramakhong yesterday at around 11 pm .

Acting on specific information about smuggling of drugs on Mayai Lambi, Imphal West commando personnel led by OC Inspector P Achouba, under the supervision of Additional SP IW, Amarjit Singh, rushed to Langthabal Phuramakhong area and arrested Seiminthang Haokip of Samushang Simol village, Senapati district.

On checking the Bolero vehicle he was driving, the team recovered 35 number of soap cases containing brown sugar weighing 378 grams concealed inside a separate compartment inside the oil tank of the vehicle.

Seiminthang Haokip admitted that he brought the drug from Moreh and it was handed to him by one unknown person sent by his associate identified as Mang of Churachandpur.

He was going to hand over the drugs to Mang at Churachandpur, said police.

The arrested person and the Bolero vehicle have been handed over to Singjamei Police Station for further necessary legal action under ND&PS Act, added the police.
