Imphal, October 11 2020:
The Umang Lai Kanba Lup (UKAL) has stated that it will no longer remain mum when shrines, sites or events related to Umang Lai (Forest God) are targetted or attacked by miscreants.
In a statement, UKAL asserted that attacking a place of worship for a certain community is an insult to the community itself.
UKAL also stated that the sacrilege committed by a group of people at the sacred site of Kounu Lairembi at Leimakhong by pelting stones on October 4 is an act of cowardice.
Claiming that similar incidents had happened in the past too, the lup urged the State Government to do the needful at the earliest.
