Death anniv of Maharaja Nara Singh observed

During the observation of the 165th death anniversary of (L) Maharaja Nara Singh, Art & Culture Secretary, K Radhakumar led the offering of floral tributes at Maharaja Nara Singh cremation site at Kangla.
There was also a grand gun salute from the personnel of Ist Bn Manipur Rifles in the function.
The observation programme was organized by Manipur State Archaeology Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur.
A large number of persons came offer flowers and fruits at Imphal River which flows near Kangla and prayer was held for the departed King's soul.
In the closing part of the observation programme at Kangla Hall, K Radhakumar and Padmashree RK Jhaljit were present as chief guest and president respectively.
Art & Culture Director, Dr K Sushila giving the keynote addresses highlighted the remarkable and historical contribution in history of Manipur by King Nara Singh in defeating the Burmese invaders.
K Radhakumar in his speech on the occasion suggested for contribution to the society like the Maharaja.
RK Jhalajit stated that (L) Maharaja Nara Singh was the king in history who had shifted the capital to Imphal.
He also spoke how Maharaja Nara Singh governed and protected the kingdom while King Gambhir was away at Silchar to buy war weapons.
