Imphal, February 11 2025: A legal awareness programme on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Act 2017 was hosted for educational professionals today organised by the Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) under the aegis of Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS).

The legal awareness programme was held at the Conference Hall of MACS, R&D Wing, Lamphelpat.

Speaking on the occasion, RK Nalinikanta, president, CoNE highlighted the need for people living with HIV/AIDS to be able to live full lives with their human rights intact.

They should be aware that people who discriminate against them can be penalised under the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Act 2017, he said.

RK Nalinikanta urged society to stop looking down on people living with HIV/AIDS.

Dr Kh Shasheekumar, State Ombudsman Officer graced the event as resource person.

Educators from different parts of Imphal East attended the event.
